What is your coaching philosophy?
I firmly believe in my tag line - you can succeed on your own terms, but you can't succeed alone. Each of us needs a trusted supporter, champion, and expert we can confide in and get honest feedback from - someone who can help us look at ourselves, help us understand ourselves, and provide guidance and support in learning how to make change, grow, and achieve our goals. I bring a psychological perspective to my work looking at my clients from a developmental point of view. I have a directive style of coaching and offer suggestions to clients. I see myself as a true partner committed to supporting my clients in identifying and getting where they want to go. I care about and make deep connections with my clients.
What types of people do you typically coach?
- Middle- and senior-level managers and executives as well as individual contributors (both men and women, but with a specialty in women) from small- and medium-sized companies, nonprofit organizations and large corporations such as Thomson Financial, Kodak, Xerox, Hasbro, FleetBoston, and Bose.

What is your professional background?
- 1998 to present: career and executive coach and workshop leader specializing in career and leadership development, women's leadership and advancement, and work/life balance.
- Author of Success on Our Own Terms: Tales of Extraordinary, Ordinary Business Women (John Wiley, 1998). Based on interviews with 45 female Fortune 500 managers and executives and a survey of 700 women, it provides strategies for navigating the corporate world and best practices for women's initiatives and advancing women in management. Also authored Fast Forward MBA in Business (John Wiley, 1996), an easy-to-read reference guide to business principles and management theory that has been translated into six languages.
- Professional experience includes: self -employed communications consultant and free-lance writer and editor; communications director for a globally recognized business intelligence firm; executive director of a not-for-profit foundation; public relations director for a major social services agency.
