RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, is seeking a full time Manager of Certification and Education Programs. This position ensures the smooth operation and integrity of RESNA’s credentialing programs and oversees the development and implementation of educational and course offerings. This individual will serve as the staff liaison to the Professional Standards Board (PSB) and Education Committee. S/he supervises the Certification Coordinator, and reports to the Executive Director.
Manages the programs for Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), and Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS) credentials including such activities as: application review, approval and follow-up; coordination with test consulting company and management of policy consultant; oversee renewal processing including notifications and continuing education review.
Oversee test maintenance activities including creation of new forms, item writing, and recruitment of item writing committee members, review of passing score student and job validation, and annual surveys.
Maintain certification database with new and updated certificant data.
Develop a data tracking system to identify relevant benchmarks and improve existing certification programs and determine areas for growth.
Develop content for RESNA website in the areas concerning certification and CEU offerings.
Facilitate operations of the Professional Standards Board (PSB) to include: scheduling and facilitating PSB meetings and conference calls; manage online communications; coordinate applicant appeals and exam revisions in accordance with industry standards.
Develop and oversee the implementation of Board orientation for new members to the Professional Standards Board.
In conjunction with the Professional Standards Board and staff responsible for marketing, develop an overall marketing strategy for the certification program.
Supervise work performed by the Certification Coordinator.
Draft proposed annual certification budget and ensure adherence to final approved budget.
Present and exhibit at select conferences and meetings regarding the certification programs.
Update and maintain NCCA Accreditation including preparation of submission of annual report and updates to website to meet standards.
Administer continuing education program including analyzing individual courses and conferences for adherence to the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) standards and ensuring proper procedures are followed.
Develop an overall plan for education and professional development based on an annual needs assessment that targets RESNA members and others in the field of assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering in consultation with Education and other committees as appropriate.
Manages specific projects for conference, workshops, webinars, online courses, in-person courses, etc.
Serve as primary staff liaison with Education Committee to develop educational course offerings for online and in-person trainings.
Oversees management of database to include CEUs.
Recruit faculty for educational offerings and maintain a faculty register with biographical sketches of each.
Review and approve CEU applications from organizations and individuals interested in providing RESNA CEUs.
Manage education program expenses to ensure adherence to budget.
Experience managing a professional certification program.
Experience designing and promoting educational programs in an association setting, preferably in a disability and/or technology association.
Commitment to program quality, evaluation and continuous improvement.
Must be detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Project planning and management experience a plus.
Strong organizational skills in order to handle multiple overlapping activities.
Database experience helpful.
Possess a positive, team-player attitude with strong customer service work ethic.
Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to MS Office and web tools including social media tools.
Knowledge of online education platforms helpful or a willingness to learn about online education tools.
