The Events and Community Manager is responsible for the overall coordination of all live and online events delivered by the CFA Society Boston, including, but not limited to, Annual Market Dinner, Annual Meeting, conferences, seminars, luncheons, networking events, committee meetings and special events. The person will also be responsible for supporting the Managing Director, Learning and Operations, on committee communications and meeting logistics, education and program logistics, post-event survey distribution and analysis, and attendance at all education, networking and programming events. The Manager will help develop and manage the online communities. The Manager reports to and is accountable to the Managing Director, Learning and Operations, CFA Society Boston.
More specifically, the responsibilities of this position will fall into the following areas:
Oversee the coordination of all programs and events for CFA Society Boston. This includes all logistics, including scheduling the date with all stakeholders and securing a location, in addition to other duties that may be required.
Coordinate all aspects of speakers/presenters, including speaker materials, handouts, a/v needs, on-site accommodations, and any other requirements.
Work with various vendors to identify space and gather pricing information to present to supervisor. Identify new and creative meeting space.
Manage logistics for the CFA Institute Research Challenge presented by CFA Society Boston. This task includes all communications with university participants; coordinate with the subject company for the Research Challenge once company is identified. Responsible for all logistics, including, but not limited to: schedule, venue, and coordination of the event.
Position is responsible for distributing surveys for events within 24 business hours to attendees.
Coordinate various committee meeting schedules.
Be on-site at all programs and events to manage registration and presenter set-up; coordinate additional staffing for events when necessary.
Manage the registration process for all education, programs and events, including monitoring registration, preparing badges and registration materials, assisting members and non-members when necessary, attendance and wrap up.
Manage basic accounting functions for events including invoicing and tracking, payment processing, deposits and reports.
Manage processes as they relate to volunteer and program management; includes overseeing database/CRM solutions.
Community Management and Engagement
Coordinate all aspects of Young Leaders Committee. Communicate with and manage committee volunteers. Oversee any activities that arise from these groups.
Monitor community member posts and activities on a regular basis and provide feedback on common themes.
Coordinate with Director of Marketing and Communications to market the online communities and their benefits.
Upload resources and content as directed by the Managing Director, Learning and Operations and the Community Ambassadors.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of trends and emerging technologies in the online communities’ space.
Participate in organizations to enhance skills for the position.
Quality control responsibilities of website content that pertains to programs and education for both members and candidates
Support Director of Marketing with social media outreach for events, education and programs.
The appropriate candidate for this position will possess an undergraduate degree, 2+ years of work experience that includes events coordination with experience in association management and online communities a plus. This individual should have a demonstrable interest in the financial services industry and be fully conversant with current office technologies and familiar with web-based tools and databases.

Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Strong computer skills, strong knowledge of Microsoft Office; Adobe, email marketing and iMIS database skills a plus.
Self-directed, works independently with minimal supervision.
Able to develop a strong and positive working relationship with multiple parties including CFA Society Boston staff and Board, CFA Institute, members and volunteers, and vendors.
Minimal travel may be required; nights and early mornings required.
