Founded in 1992, the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) is a 501(c)(6) association serving the toy industry. We are looking for a detail oriented, customer-focused, team player to join our team as a part-time Accounting Coordinator. Applicants must have experience with accounts payables, accounts receivables, account and bank reconciliations, expense reports tracking and reconciliation, and general ledger. Desired candidate should have advanced Microsoft Excel skills. This position reports directly to the President.
This position offers a flexible but consistent, part-time work schedule that is not expected to exceed 20 hours a week.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Processing checks, credit card and ACH deposits in QuickBooks and various accounting/billing systems;
Payment of vendors to include all verification steps and preparing checks for signature;
Process payments for company expense reimbursements for employees and volunteers by receiving, verifying, and reconciling expense;
Complete and process month end closing journal entries
Complete all monthly reconciliations - reconcile, verify and compare system reports and various accounts to balances;
Compiles PNL and Balance Sheet reports;
Reconciles report discrepancies and problems;
Prepares reports and materials needed to support the annual audit;
Prepare and submit annual tax forms;
Work directly with the President and the Finance Committee to ensure best practices and GAAP compliance are in place to cover all finance related activities for the office;
Serves as the staff liaison to the Finance Committee;
Work with departments to prepare annual budget; Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area is required
2+ years of experience in an accounting role
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required
Experience with QuickBooks a plus
Must be able to work independently and take initiative
