We are a professional membership association in New York looking for an experienced and hungry PR Manager to develop and implement an ongoing Public Relations program to promote the organization, its members, chapters, committees, events and agenda.
You will create, implement, and lead public relations strategies to enhance the image of our profession. You will launch new initiatives, manage all industry-related speaking engagements and events, play an active role in developing our message, and help evolve our PR and social media practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Fully manage and initiate strategic and creative planning of PR campaigns and projects in collaboration with Director.
Create and implement strategic public relations plans to enhance the image of our profession, launch new initiatives, publicize our events, etc.
Oversee organization’s social media presence.
Monitor press for opportunities to position our profession.
Propose new ideas, help to drive content and offer creative ideas that satisfy business needs while representing the brand voice and staying current in content and technology, trends and opportunities.
Cultivate, develop and maintain productive relationships with the media. Serve as resource and a vehicle to facilitate press coverage. Nurture relationships to better ensure “before-the-fact” awareness of breaking stories.
Maintain current listings of media contacts.
Be the internal expert for branded and client-focused PR needs, and work alongside executives to better communication across the organization.
Provide media training for staff and our executive leadership team.
Provide counsel and assistance on issues, crisis management, positioning, institutional image enhancement, and community/public affairs.
Manage and publicize annual journalism awards program using awards CMS platform.
Proactively plan and publicize successful events within the industry including our executive annual awards ceremony.
A college degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
Minimum five years experience in public/media relations.
Demonstrated record of successful national, regional and local media relations planning, implementation and placement.
Experience in leading content development.
Ability to work independently and set priorities while exercising flexibility, initiative and self-motivation.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate public events that can be used to advance organizational objectives.
Exceptional writing and communication as well as computer and Internet skills.
Must be a natural collaborator and networker with the ability to foster relationships easily, both inside the organization and out.
Extensive media contacts at key New York, national and financial media industry with the ability to work with journalists at all skill levels.
Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, have a high level of problem-solving skills and thrive in a deadline driven, rapid pace environment.
Experience with crisis and issues management.
Demonstrated record of implementing web-based technologies and new communications tools.
