The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) currently seeks an experienced and energetic Executive Director to lead the overall strategy of the AGD and the AGD Foundation.
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer to the Board of Trustees for the effective conduct of the affairs of the Academy. He or she recommends and participates in formulation of Academy goals and objectives and related policies. Within the framework of policies and priorities established by the House of Delegates, Board of Trustees, and the Executive Committee, the Executive Director plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs staff, programs and the activities of the Academy.
As Executive Director, the successful candidate will apply expertise, innovation and leadership management to direct the work of the association. Leads the administrative team to ensure that activities and programs of the association are successful, as directed by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors, bylaws, goals and priorities of the Association. Use skills or organizational and administrative procedures to facilitate constituent groups' effectiveness. Serves as resource person and consultant to the Board, constituent units, and committees of the association. Monitors and evaluates the performance and effectiveness of the association. Works closely with the President and Board of Directors in planning for the future of the association.
Bachelor’s degree, with Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of six years’ experience in association management, including a minimum of three years of key management experience. Well versed in association management and association law; the certified association executive (CAE) designation is preferred.
Experience in parliamentary procedure is a plus. Knowledge of the health field is required, preferably with knowledge of the dental profession and the problems confronting the profession. A strong manager, with superior leadership, planning, communication, and team-building skills, a track-record in building and sustaining relationships, developing non-dues revenue, and managing diverse membership entities. Experience in continuing dental education and management of a 501 (c)(3) organization are also very desirable.
