Essential Duties: The Managing Editor is responsible for all aspects of Associations publications which includes, but is not limited to:
Execute a highly evolved editorial planning, production, and distribution life cycle for multiple publications and communications platforms.
Implement visionary leadership in developing editorial strategies and processes that facilitate expansion into new industry segments and/or the launching of new types of communications, content, and platforms.
Supervise editorial staff in fostering and developing contributing authors and journalistic content.
Ensure that all content is balanced to meet the needs of all contributors, users and the Association in general.
Optimize editorial workflow: recommend changes to processes, software, or other components to work more efficiently.
Collaborate with the advertising sales team to ensure all ad-related deadlines are met and advertisements are placed correctly.
Incorporate promotional initiatives into media channels to drive member programs and a very successful trade exposition.
Organize even-handed, team-based initiatives for community messaging and marketing objective fulfillment.
Ensure that content is ethical and journalistically objective toward delivery of the Association’s communications and overall strategic direction.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
8+ years of professional writing/editing experience.
2+ years of management experience, preferably as a managing editor.
Expertise editing to AP guidelines.
A proven history of success in a newsroom or other deadline-driven environment.
Experience with web-based content management systems.

Skilled in project management as it relates to publishing periodicals.

Possesses personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment to the Association’s mission.
Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within a fast-moving environment, implementing new strategic directions while maintaining the success of current goals.
Demonstrated experience in financial planning and budgeting.
