The Communications Associate will provide copy writing, editing, proofreading, and production coordination for other CMAA projects to include newsletters, press releases, social media and email campaigns, brochures, white papers, articles, correspondence, speeches, conference presentations, and other projects as assigned. The Communications Associate will support promotion of the association’s National Conference & Trade Show and other events; provide support of these events to include preparation of scripts and AV materials; promote the Certified Construction Manager program; provide outreach to chapters, student chapters, and educational institutions, and other duties as assigned. This individual should be a good writer and a skilled project coordinator who can keep multiple projects on track simultaneously. This position also involves creating and maintaining content for the CMAA website and online community. This function, in turn, requires regular communication with all CMAA departments to keep web content current and to ensure consistent style and branding throughout the site. Training will be provided in the use of CMAA’s Content Management System (CMS). He or she will provide staff support of several member committees and the CMAA Foundation. In addition, the Communications Associate will monitor the association’s presence in social media, develop content, and help develop a consistent CMAA strategy for using social media tools to advance the mission and vision of CMAA. The position supports the communications, outreach, and marketing functions for the association. Reports to the Vice President, Communications, and works closely with the Vice President of Membership and Marketing and Vice President of Certification.
Two to three years’ experience in communications and administrative functions, including writing responsibilities.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Familiarity with social media and online communities.
Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to drive projects through completion.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Mid-level experience in Adobe InDesign (graphic design) preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Telecommuting is allowed.
