The International Sleep Product Association (ISPA) seeks qualified candidates to serve as accountant for an Alexandria, VA based trade association. Position responsible for day-to-day accounting activities and assists with HR for a 30 person staff.
Manage all aspects of day to day bookkeeping and accounting processes including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries and bank reconciliation in accordance with GAAP.
Assist Senior Vice President in managing and overseeing the administration of employee benefits, including health/dental, life insurance, disability, and 401K.
Prepare journal entries for prepaid expenses, deferred revenue and payroll.
Process, pay and file all invoices in a timely fashion.
Reconcile and process for payment all employee credit card bills.
Receive and deposit all organizational revenue, including checks, credit card, ACH and wire payments.
Work closely with contract Director of Finance to execute month-end closing procedures and postings.
Be the key interface with banks and advise Senior Vice President of cash management needs.
File quarterly sales and use tax; file and pay other state and federal taxes.
Maintain accounting procedures and policies and systems of internal controls to ensure the integrity of all financial systems.
Perform annual 1099 reporting process for vendors.
Work closely with Senior Vice President and Director of Finance to prepare for annual third-party audit.
Support Senior Vice President in preparation of annual budget.
Execute monthly payroll activities twice monthly using a third-party payroll service provider.
Manage time tracking process for employees with hours billable to various programs, utilizing online time tracking software.
Organize new employee intake documents and orientation books.
Respond to employee questions related to benefits.
Accounting degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of six to ten years of work experience in the bookkeeping/accounting field.
Experience working in not-for-profit accounting.
Strong excel skills.
Experience going through a third party financial audit.
Attention to detail, strong communication and problem solving are critical skills for success in this role.
Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
