The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) in Arlington, VA, a professional scientific society, seeks a Data Manager. The Data Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the data within the data management tools. This includes creating and training on data input and processing and regular data review. The Data Manager is also responsible for creating and presenting data analytics to identify valuable information for AAPS. The Data Manager work is performed under moderate to general direction and is supervised by the IT Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with leadership and staff to identify and analyze trends;
Broad knowledge of AAPS data and participation in decision making and operations with data sources;
Retain an in depth understanding of iMIS system including modules, data management tools, IQA, process automation, and SSRS;
Create and enforce policies and standards for effective data management;
Develop and maintain standard reporting for internal and external use in a central repository;
Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data management and analysis with attention to all technical aspects;
Formulate management techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data;
Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management and external stakeholders;
Provide support to staff in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to compliance and organization standards;
Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications;
Review data for inconsistencies or anomalies that could skew results;
Streamline data collection and analysis procedures to ensure fast access to metrics;
Recommend and implement data changes which includes database and tables;
Collaborate with staff to develop and maintain process documentation and system processes to support programs;
Perform ad-hoc SQL backups and restore system as needed;
Manage vendor relations with third party vendors, ensuring data standards are being met;
Review and authorize system changes that impact data maintenance, analysis, reports or storage;
Analyze data systems and maintenance of accurate records and established protocols to share records with upper management, senior leadership, or other key stakeholders;
Initiate data improvement and data automation strategies;
Design, develop, and modify data management infrastructure to expedite data analysis and reporting;
Evaluate the design, selection, implementation and support of database changes using associated business requirements;
Collaborate with staff in creating and maintaining business processes and provide support to for basic and advanced issues in iMIS, modules, and processes;
Develop standard operating procedures for data handling and archiving;
Maintain data management plans and operating instructions for complex business systems and architectures;
Implement and enforce data quality efforts including but not limited to: purging, merging, and updating records that do not meet data standards;
Implement and maintain a repository for standard reports and data using iMIS tools;
Create and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures; and
Mapping data sets, database diagramming and field definitions.
Exceptional organization and time management skills.
Proficient at SQL query through SQL Manager or studio for data extraction and analyzation.
Proficient at using Crystal Reports and similar writing applications.
Proven ability to work in team oriented, collaborative environment.

Proven customer service and analytical skills.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in data analytics or related field.
Over two years of experience in data analytics, data management or related field.
Over two years of experience designing and presenting reporting analytics and information.
