We are currently in search of a seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader that can tap into the team’s creative spark while advancing the IADMS mission. The Deputy Executive Director must be an effective leader who is capable of helping others on the IADMS team to deliver measurable cost-effective results while making IADMS’ mission and strategy a reality.
This is currently a part-time position that we envision moving to a full-time position. The preferred hire is to be based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. This is a remote role, with work out of the home-office.
Summary of Position:
Under administrative direction of the Board of Directors, the Deputy Executive Director (‘DED”) will lead the IADMS’ operational team, which is responsible for conducting the daily and strategic business and affairs of IADMS. The DED will collaborate with the Board and other staff in ensuring sound operational management of IADMS. The DED will ensure communication of and execution of IADMS policies and programs with team members, other organizations, the general public and all stakeholders. The DED will lead IADMS in delivering measurable cost-effective results that make IADMS’ mission, strategy, culture and values a reality. The DED will create and assist in executing long-term and short-term plans and directives by implementing judgment, vision, management, and leadership. The Deputy Executive Director is the face of IADMS and must be able to work with high-level executives to promote and build the IADMS messaging.
Ensures top talent is obtained for all levels of the organization; directs their activities so as to achieve determined goals and objectives that supports IADMS’ strategic plan
Measures the effectiveness and efficiency of IADMS policies and operational programs; determines appropriate improvements, if required, that will further the goals and objectives of the association
Displays consistent visionary leadership for IADMS staff; modeling the associations values so as to encourage the very best performance of which they are capable
Oversees all operational initiatives; leads team in all programs and provides guidance, coaching, and direction to ensure successful completion
Supports all IADMS committees in the achievement of their goals
Oversees all operations in accordance with Board policies, bylaws, and procedures; to include all other applicable rules and guidelines
Prepares required material and presentations relevant to the DED’s responsibilities for Board meetings and other external business meetings
Partner with the Annual Conference Producer and Program Committee in the production of the Annual Meeting
Oversee association consultant use and performance; ensuring value and accomplishment of desired scope of work
Pursue grant and donor opportunities to develop and further association’s financial base
Collaborates with IADMS Board on the development of the annual budget; operationalizes Board approved goals, objectives and programs that will improve IADMS’ economic viability
Creates and presents monthly and quarterly reports to IADMS Board; detailing the financial health of the organization and the accomplishment of approved goals and objectives.
Ensures proper maintenance of all pertinent financial records evidencing income, expenses, capital expenditures, and investments pursuant to IADMS functioning, and reports to the Board of Directors in a manner and at such times so prescribed by the Board of Directors, the financial condition of the organization, in conjunction with the Treasurer of IADMS.
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to the existence and functioning of IADMS and its activities to include, but not limited to, annual reports, sales taxes, income taxes, and payroll taxes.
Informs the Board of Directors of all matters directly and indirectly bearing on the current and projected welfare of the organization, of which they are not otherwise aware, and provide recommendations, plans, programs and activities designed for beneficial impact of the organization.
