The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) is seeking a component relations specialist to fill a new position that provides ACA’s component groups (specialty councils, student and faculty affiliates, etc.) managerial and consultative services related to governance, operations and membership. The incumbent facilitates the flow of information between each group and ACA, and serves as staff liaison to related committees and boards including the American Board of Chiropractic Specialties (ABCS).
The primary responsibilities of this position are:
Establishing and managing productive relationships with volunteer leadership to enhance the connection between ACA and each specific group.
Acting as central point of contact for and providing support to specialty councils on matters relating to governance, elections, membership, financial reporting, corporate memberships and endorsement protocols.
Working with specialty council leadership to ensure compliance with ACA and council bylaws.
Maintaining accurate electronic records of all component groups’ organizational documents. Updating online information related to component groups. Monitoring election process and updating electronic leadership rosters.
Working with component groups to develop leadership orientation materials and evaluation processes. Recommend improvements to processes and structure where and when appropriate.
Developing a comprehensive strategy for identifying and promoting component groups’ value proposition to ACA’s general membership.
And, additional duties as required.
Candidates must have at least five years of association experience with emphasis on component, interest group, committee, council, chapter or membership experience that includes direct contact with members, supporting membership-related activities, and working closely with volunteer leadership. The position requires the individual to demonstrate strong of volunteer relationship management skills, self-direction, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to professional service. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills are a must and candidates should have experience in positions requiring good judgment, problem solving and project management skills. Proficient computer skills and use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT). Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, HTML, social media platforms, etc. a plus.
