The Director of CME will maintain the Society’s status as an accredited provider of continuing medical education; Develop and maintain the CME compliance program and written policies for the society; and Manage CME activities sponsored and co-sponsored by the ASCRS.
Job duties and responsibilities:
Maintain the Society’s status as an accredited CME provider with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
Provide thought leadership and direction for society’s CME/CE Compliance Program
Manage all aspects of society’s CME/CE Compliance Program, including conducting quarterly review, reporting and file maintenance
Establish written CME and compliance policies for the Society
Responsible for development, publication and training of all applicable CME/CE policies
Implementation of CME/CE policies throughout all aspects of educational delivery, and all departments that work on educational activities and materials
Work with the Clinical Education Department, EyeWorld education group and other internal personnel to ensure delivery of useful, well-balanced educational content that adheres to internal and external CME policies and guidelines.
Provide oversight and input for educational grant requests as needed
Work with partnership organizations and publications (EyeWorld, Cornea Society, EBAA, etc.) on the development of independent and jointly-supported educational initiatives.
Collect and assess attendee evaluations for all CME/CE activities
Develop and publish outcomes reports for ASCRS, ASOA and EyeWorld for all CME/CE educational activities
Direct management responsibility for Online Education Project Manager; Provide training, direction, regular and ongoing feedback and complete annual performance evaluation
Provide oversight and strategic direction for society’s online CME platform and offerings
Lead committee meetings and discussion groups related to continuing medical education
Organize ASCRS Annual Meeting sessions and other educational programs as assigned
Experience, knowledge, and skill requirements:
5 years of directly-related work experience, which includes work related to developing continuing education programs in a non-profit or medical association environment
Experience in or knowledge of ophthalmology preferred
Direct experience with CME accreditation process preferred
Analytical skills; proficiency with MS Excel, PPT, Word platforms; proficiency operating a PC
Exceptional communication, organization and interpersonal skills
Direct management experience preferred
Education and training requirements:
Formal CME training and/or certifications
