The Society for Corporate Governance, a nonprofit professional association, has an open position to assist with conferences and events. The position would start in April and continue for 6-9 months.
Work location & schedule –
Office is located in midtown Manhattan
Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, plus additional hours as needed at events
The Event Assistant will be asked to work on location at conferences including our conference in Washington DC, June 16-24, 2018. (hotel and travel expenses would be covered by the company)
Duties include, but not limited to:
CONFERENCE SPEAKER TASKS
Act as liaison for event speakers.
Prepare and coordinate mailings to request biographies, forms, photos, handouts, AV needs, etc.
Catalog and/or traffic materials to conference staff upon receipt.
Maintain and update materials which include speaker information.
Compile and/or proofread speaker information for printed matter, website posting, etc.
Track speaker conference calls.
Make travel reservations.
Other miscellaneous conference/speaker related tasks as needed.
Assist with registration from program development through event.
Build registration in event management system and/or create registration form.
Process registration payments.
Respond to event related questions from attendees, speakers, sponsors, vendors, etc.
Prepare conference badges and attendee materials.
EVENT RELATED TASKS
Provide event support including registration desk, CLE desk, room monitor, etc.
Maintain updated agenda.
Application for CLE accreditation & attendee credit notification.
Ordering, shipping, packing, event supplies.
Assist with other special projects such as networking events or webinars.
Coordinate food & beverage, room sets, AV, etc. with venue.

General office skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint necessary, familiarity with iMIS a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a professional and diplomatic manner.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The ideal candidate must be highly organized and detail oriented.
Able to travel to and work at 2018 National Conference in Washington DC, June 16-24, 2018.
