JOB SUMMARY The Director, Educational Products will employ strategies to continuously evolve the educational products in the continuing professional development (CPD) portfolio, particularly evolving the live education portfolio for pathologists and laboratory professionals to ensure needs are met. The Director will lead the conceptualization, design, and deployment of innovative live learning educational solutions utilizing best practices in instructional design, adult learning, blended learning approaches, and technology. The Director will collaborate with subject matter experts and staff across all departments, including marketing, customer service, IT, and meeting services in order to maximize the impact of ASCP’s educational activities for physician and non-physician learners, and to optimize ASCP’s success in meeting market needs and financial objectives. The Director will oversee the operations of all educational products in the CPD portfolio, including serving on the internal annual meeting leadership team to provide input on educational direction and initiatives. The Director will lead the management of live international meetings, represent ASCP’s educational product portfolio with various external organizations, and staff internal workgroups and volunteer committees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement innovative live learning educational solutions from conceptualization through development and practical delivery of customer-centric educational products.
Facilitate the adoption of adult learning theory and evidence-based practices to ensure the highest educational quality of the educational portfolio.
Oversee CPD educational product operations, evaluate and align processes to maximize efficiency.
Serve on the internal Annual Meeting leadership team and provide input on education direction and initiatives.
Lead the development of educational content for international meetings; form internal workgroups and volunteer committees to oversee existing and develop new live international meetings.
Staff the Curriculum, Educational Resource and Scientific Advisory Committee (CER-SAC) to ensure full curricular alignment across the educational portfolio.
Participate in and provide support for the ASCP Commission on Continuing Professional Development.
Supervise and coach a team of 5 direct reports who provide project management for various educational products.
Provide formal and informal feedback throughout the year, including performance reviews; identify opportunities for professional development.
Set product priorities based on the organization’s strategic goals and serve on the new product development team.
Achieve financial objectives by developing and monitoring department, committee, and product revenue and expense budgets, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions, and anticipating long-term issues.
Work closely with the marketing, finance, IT, and meeting services departments to ensure that the educational portfolio strategy reaches and grows the targeted audience(s).
Assure compliance with applicable Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), Maintenance of Certification (MOC), and Board of Certification (BOC) guidelines for continuing education and certification requirements.
Assume additional duties as assigned that contribute to the organization/division’s strategic goals.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or Adult Education. Depending on experience, doctorate is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience in adult and continuing education/training (continuing education (CE) preferred), and instructional design.
Expertise in curriculum design, needs assessment, and proven experience across the entire instructional design process.
Familiarity with continuing medical education (CME)/continuing education for healthcare professionals and association experience a plus.
Excellent diction, grammar, and vocabulary both verbal and written with the ability to organize, structure, and communicate information and ideas clearly.
Highly collaborative, influential, and creative, with advanced communication skills and leadership ability to work with national and international teams, including commissions and committees.
Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Experience in partnering with various departments, such as IT, marketing, finance, and meeting services to drive collaborative projects and decisions.
Substantial management experience, dealing with diverse staff, audiences, and needs.
Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Self-starter, with ability to handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
