SNAME seeks qualified and motivated candidates to fill a central staff role at our Alexandria, VA office. We are a 120 plus, year-old professional, technical Society that supports naval architecture and marine engineering with its main offices in Alexandria, VA and a regional office in Athens, Greece. We are international with 6,500 plus members in active local professional and student sections that host events designed to stimulate professional development, create and distribute technical content, and lead our profession. We publish academic and contemporary business works and host a modern web presence. We are expanding our educational, professional development, outreach, and scholarship portfolio. Our members can be found in all lifecycle phases of vessels and other water borne assets.
The Membership Coordinator provides outstanding customer service and is the front-line contact with members when they are applying for, renewing, upgrading or have questions about membership in the Society. This position maintains the integrity of the membership database and contributes to improvements in processes related to delivering member services of all types. Domestic travel to SNAME events or other professional events may be required during week-ends and holidays. This position reports to the Membership Director. Guide applicants and members through the joining, renewal, and upgrading membership processes.
Proactively provide professional, responsive, and courteous support to our members.
Administer the onboarding program for our first-year members, renewal programs and processes, invoicing, phone calls, emails, including the renewal outreach programs in our local Sections.
Respond to requests for information about our membership makeup.
Analyze member data as required and create month-end membership reporting processes.
Assist with membership marketing and associated activities.
Assist in maintaining SNAME's database and website.
Provide input that will improve membership services activities and member experience.
Learn complete Membership Services Team functions and perform these functions independently and as part of this team.
Other duties as assigned.
Positive, engaged, and professional personal interaction with members is required.
Demonstrated verbal and communication skills.
High School degree required, Bachelor’s Degree a plus.
IMIS, Netforum or similar CRM background
Higher Logic or other online community management experience preferred
Experience in a Professional Society/non-profit association preferred.
Attention to accuracy and detail required; able to take direction and work independently.
Team, member-centric and can-do attitude.
Comfortable with modern communications and computing tools, especially Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and working in a web based environment.
Comfortable with using current Social Media tools.
Collaborative team worker with a strong solution-oriented, work ethic.
