ASTRO, the American Society for Radiation Oncology, is looking for a strategic online communications professional to serve as Social Medial Specialist. Under the direction of our Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, the individual will create and execute ASTRO’s overall social media strategies directed to priority audiences; work with Society stakeholders to manage ASTRO’s social media messaging and campaigns via various social media platforms; develop and execute strategies to promote RT Answers patient materials; report and analyze engagement results; identify online partnership opportunities with organizations and leaders in the healthcare, patient education and health advocacy sectors; engage external online audiences as well as monitor and flag communications issues with online commenters; and provide support to the Public Relations & External Communications department with writing, analysis and other duties as needed.
Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience required.
3-5 years of work experience using social media for education and advocacy purposes.
Expertise in multiple social media platforms; ability to write and present social media strategy plans, results and evaluations.
Knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics.
Ability to manage content promotion campaigns on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn; execution and analysis of Google AdWords campaigns.
Ability to package and deliver creative content (text, image and video) in outreach effort; ability to grasp trends in digital technologies and act proactively.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask.
Healthcare industry experience preferred.
Spanish language skills or experience engaging Spanish language communities, a plus.
Strong analytical skills – providing true analysis of results.
Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally.
