Creates, develops and manages educational programs for PMA communities of interest including live events and other learning opportunities. The Education Manager: (80%)
Manages strategic direction and development of education programming as determined by the goals of the education, the member value portfolio and event action plans.
Evaluates and recommends delivery vehicles for content that align with member preferences and target audiences, e.g. live events, eLearning, webcasts, job aids, articles, blogs, etc.
Collaborates with SMEs, industry experts and volunteer committees to design educational and informational content that is global, differentiated and balance the PMA member value portfolio.
Collaborates with SMEs, industry experts, PMA cross-functional areas and volunteer committees and members to develop content based upon member interests.
Continuously improves the member experience by improving the design of deliverables, based upon industry best practices, research data, evaluations and member feedback.
Provides input into creating the attendee experience (pre, during and post event), based upon attendee interests, community needs (target audience), market research (situation analysis) and country of origin.
Integrates live event content with online and social media to provide continuous year-round value for community members.
Creates, implements and ensures that education and training plan documents for assigned communities of interest are updated to reflect PMA’s most current topics, learning objectives, target audiences, delivery vehicles and priorities.
Identifies and communicates value of educational content to secondary audiences.
Manages portions of various event budgets totaling $200,000 related to speaker fees and expenses providing necessary reports to budget managers.
Manages all staff and volunteer task force meetings, conference calls, etc. regarding educational programming for live events.
Manages the selection process (Call for Speakers) for all speakers for assigned education programs including research, recommendation, contract negotiation and development.
Ensures that education content provide value to all PMA members globally.
Ensures that all educational sessions meet PMA standards of professionalism and meet identified educational goals.
Manages the development of handouts, discussion guides and other education-related materials.
Communicates all education programming information to Marketing and PR Departments for all assigned programs.
Manages project tasks in online management tool.
Reviews marketing and public relations materials for program content accuracy (2%)
Maintains and manages the subject matter expert’s database and serves as a staff resource for speakers (10%)
Maintain the PMA speaker database.
Create and maintain contacts with speaker’s bureaus.
Keep up-to-date on volunteer industry and professional speaker resources on specific topic areas and assist staff in identifying session speakers/subject matter experts.
Other duties as assigned (3%)
Expand personal competencies by reading professional publications, attending professional meetings, workshops, seminars, and by continuing education as appropriate. (5%)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in adult education or project management and five or more years of related work experience
Experienced in working in a collaborative environment and incorporating ideas from other subject matter experts into the design process
Background in the Produce Industry – Highly desired by not required
Global experience and cultural learning sensitivity preferred
Ability to plan and manage multiple projects and deadlines
Demonstrated history of providing innovative education solutions to meet customer needs
Experienced in interactive, blended adult education program development including event-based, online/social learning and instructor led course development for external customers
Demonstrated ability to negotiate mutual delivery and resource requirements and deadlines cross functionally
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others, to help shape the value portfolio
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and project management products
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Works as well as team member and in self-directed activities in a fast paced environment
Ability to determine and assign responsibilities for self and other staff and motivate them to do their best
Able to work at a very fast pace, and adapt and work in a variety of situations
Demonstrates ability to take initiative, identify problems and resolve them

Required travel: 3-5 trip per year
