The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Digital Content Associate who will help manage editorial, content production, and content marketing efforts for Neuronline, an SfN website that publishes resources helping neuroscientists learn and advance their careers. The Associate will edit articles; usher content through review processes; draft content marketing emails and social media; and collaborate closely with marketing, communications, and programmatic teams. This role will report to the Senior Digital Strategy Manager and be part of a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and innovative team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Edits Neuronline articles for SfN/Neuronline tone, style, and formatting.
Selects photos and contributes to site's visual strategy maintenance and innovations.
Conducts outreach to content contributors and guides them through editorial and publishing processes.
Contributes to efficient and streamlined Neuronline content review processes by regularly updating a review tracker and providing clear updates to Neuronline and other staff.
Drafts content marketing assets, including email, social media, newsletter, and web copy.
Gathers data analytics for the team's email marketing efforts and contributes to conversations about site-wide data analytics.
Contributes to editorial team brainstorms to innovate content types and formats.
Helps plan and execute Neuronline content activities at SfN's annual meeting.
Handles adhoc copyediting, writing, reporting, and administrative requests.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree; communications, publishing, writing, or other relevant field required.
2 year's work experience with a minimum of one year of professional experience in areas relevant to job, such as communications, writing, editing, and/or content marketing.
Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to master organizational style guides.
Superior and proactive organizational, project management, and collaboration skills to keep self, manager, team, and colleagues informed of content workflow.
Ability to contribute to and coordinate a diverse set of content activities, meeting short-and long-term deadlines.
Ability to manage up and across to anticipate needs and communicate across the organization.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to partner with SfN staff across departments and external stakeholders, including volunteer committee members, SfN members, and other Neuronline content contributors and reviewers.
Exceptional business writing, oral, and written skills.
Demonstrated ability to practice sound judgment and proactively problem solve issues when they arise.
Strong independent contributor with an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
Interest in learning and discussing industry trends in digital, content strategy, content marketing, and editorial.
