The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) is searching for a Volunteer Operations Manager who will play a key role in leading a team in the execution of a wide range of volunteer operations, special projects, and other departmental or organizational activities as needed. The position will work closely with the departmental management team in staffing and supporting Council, Executive Committee, Committee on Committees, volunteer management operations, and the senior staff team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead the execution of the day-to-day logistics and planning for Council, Executive Committee, Committee on Committees/Nominating Committee, Committee Chairs, Members Business and other meetings throughout the year and annual meeting functions.
Lead the execution of the day-to-day implementation and documentation of volunteer operations including the annual Call for Nominations, Officer and Councilor election, annual meeting ribbons, service letters, tiered perks, volunteer rotation logistics, reception invitations, holiday cards, and other volunteer management operations throughout the year.
Lead the execution of day-to-day implementation and documentation of logistics and planning for work associated with SfN's Strategic Acquisition Working Group, SfN's 50th Anniversary, and other special projects as identified.
Lead the execution of day-to-day implementation and documentation of logistics and planning for SfN's individual named awards program and the Trainee Professional Development Award program.
Facilitate the annual review of the Society's governance-related documents and records such as the strategic plan and committee charters.
Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are maintained and identify opportunities for efficiency.
Manage partnerships with our vendor-partners for volunteer management.
Contributes to preparation of agendas, annotated agendas, minutes, meeting summaries, and Executive or Officer talking points as needed.
Assists in meetings with logistics, note-taking and meeting minutes or summary preparation as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; degree in non-profit management preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' professional experience managing multiple projects.
Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience.
Experience collaborating across teams, and working with non-profit or association volunteers and senior management staff.
Ability to manage multiple long-term and short-term tasks with various deadlines and set priorities.
Ability to motivate and empower team for success.
Strong organizational, delegation, reasoning, and analytical skills.
Very detailed oriented.
Interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
Ability to be discrete and confidential regarding work issues is essential.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities.
Must be a team player, energetic, and self-motivated.
