The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) is the world’s largest organization dedicated to improving mathematics education for all students. NCTM is the public voice of math education, providing vision, leadership, and professional development to teachers.
NCTM is seeking a Director of Membership to efficiently manage the Membership Department. The Director of Membership will promote NCTM by developing and implementing programs and activities to increase membership growth. Duties will include membership recruitment, retention, maintaining benefits and services, and increasing value of membership. Responsible for project management and budgetary responsibilities for the membership department.
Develop and implement comprehensive membership programs and plans that increase member retention, improve member value and services, and increase awareness of NCTM.
Ensure timely delivery of benefits and services to members.
Analyze membership surveys and other forms of data gathering to continuously improve current and future activities.
Ensure accuracy of customer service databases.
Oversee membership renewal process, on-line membership services, and services to Affiliates.
Manage reinstatement process and telemarketing campaigns to regain lapsed members.
Manage and staff membership and registration areas at the Annual Meeting, Regional Conferences, and all online and in-person member professional events.
Develop and implement communication avenues for membership. Write articles and membership marketing material as needed.
Manage tradeshow team; determine show selection and onsite strategies.
Coordinate membership, recruiting and retention activities with other NCTM departments and fosters collaboration to leverage efforts across the organization.
Manage membership products and services.
Review and conduct statistical analysis and regularly generate reports and provide recommendations for areas of improvement in the area of membership and products.
Manages member affinity programs.
Responsible for department budget and contracts with vendors.
Set goals and objectives for the department and individual staff members. Conduct staff reviews.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree required and 5-8 years of experience in membership, affiliates/chapter relations, market development or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Vendor management experience required.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively establish work priorities.
Strong managerial and supervisory skills.
Ability to develop and manage large budgets.
Experience with word processing and spreadsheets (Word and Excel preferred).
Experience using Internet-based strategies for membership recruitment and retention.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Overnight and weekend travel will be required to all tradeshows and NCTM conferences.
