The New Business Development Associate is responsible for facilitating Choose Chicago sales process by creating leads for the sales team with hotel partners and prospective clients; research new business opportunities for all market opportunities.
The New Business Development Associate will be a liaison for the Sales team, hotel partners and profitable new business opportunities. The ideal candidate must be result driven and persistent in identifying key sales ventures with knowledge of hotel inventory. Exceptional telephone selling skills are mandatory to contribute to overall success in attaining departmental goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prospect for new hotel business through telephone solicitation, networking, cold calling, client referrals, prospects and working within industry related associations.
Achieve monthly prospecting telephone calls and lead assignments to sales team.
Identify prospects by utilizing various industry databases, directories and publications.
Maintain a comprehensive prospect list using Simpleview and report activities on a regular basis to sales team and direct management.
Influence potential new clients about local hotels and hotel inventory.
Develop feasible short and long-term plans for achieving favorable business opportunities; anticipate critical obstacles and issues.
Participate on a regular basis in all sales meetings and assist other Sales Managers in their sales efforts.
Schedule work activities to ensure that deadlines are met and goals are achieved in a timely manner. Comply with established policies and guidelines applying Choose Chicago operations and employee conduct.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in hospitality industry showing progressive growth and learning and/or training equal to the skill level needed to perform this sales position.
Excellent telephone selling skills and understanding of the sales process.
Knowledge of Chicago and hotel community and understanding of hotel contracts and pricing strategies are important.
Prior experience in the hospitality or sales industry a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must be technologically proficient with email, power point presentations, excel, word and other computer related tools.
Proficient in Cvent and Starcite a plus.
Ability to represent the Bureau in a professional manner while interfacing with internal and external clients; excellent telephone skills
Possess good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to work independently with strong decision making abilities and attention to details.
Proven knowledge of sales market, communications and negotiation techniques and strategies.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a strong knowledge of spelling, grammar and punctuation
Must be able to speak publicly and give presentations to organizations, and community groups.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Ability to perform computer work for extended periods of time.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed. Working evenings include, but are not limited to attending business and client events, etc.
