The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading trade and lobby association representing the trucking industry, is actively seeking an energetic and creative Vice President Event Services. This position is responsible for the management of the Event Services Department and the successful implementation of 10 - 12 ATA events annually. This position interacts with ATA staff at all levels, ATA members including the top echelon of ATA’s carrier and supplier members, governing structure of ATA such as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and all Past Chairmen of the Board of Directors, government officials, the public such as attendees and quests at all official functions, other organizations, vendors and suppliers including the national sales directors of hotels. This position has budgetary and supervisory responsibility.
Manages the implementation, planning and on-site management of the ATA Events as specified in written/verbal agreements with ATA program managers. This includes logistical planning, negotiations of contracts, scripts, registration/housing process, production as well as on-site management while attaining budget goals. Researches and recommends future Event sites while focusing on increasing attendance and keeping within budget.
Oversees the production & implementation of the ATA Executive Committee Meeting, ATA Leadership Meeting, ATA Management Conference & Exhibition and any additional meetings required by the Executive Office including America’s Road Team, etc.
Manages various council meetings (TMC, ITLC, S&LPC) and various ATA Department Meetings.
Performs site selections and contract negotiations as needed. Reviews all ATA contracts with hotels/convention centers, etc., to ensure favorable rates, terms, and concessions.
Expands and implements computer technology to improve efficiency and customer service, utilizing in-house computer training when available.
Serves ATA members in the best possible manner to best promote and ensure the success of the ATA mission.
Knowledge and Skills
BS/BA plus 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
10 years progressively increasing experience in conference management including knowledge of registration, housing, contract negotiations, RFP process, logistics, trade show and event production.
