Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Communications is responsible for ensuring that NEII uses communications as effectively as possible to advance its mission and vision. Working in collaboration with the rest of the NEII team, the Communications Director will develop and execute strategic communications plans, maximize NEII’s brand identity, and make appropriate and effective use of all NEII communications channels to enhance our public policy and codes development efforts and promote the industry’s commitment to safety and innovation.
This is a full-time, exempt position and can be located anywhere in the U.S. NEII provides a remote office environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute a strategic communications plan to guide NEII’s use of communications to advance NEII’s mission and vision.
Increase NEII’s brand identity, both internally and to external stakeholders.
Manage all NEII communications, including media relations.
Develop NEII’s Thought Leadership strategy.
Manage and write all NEII newsletters and articles.
Identify needs and update content for the Website.
Produce quarterly video blogs and podcasts.
Manage and write content for NEII’s social media communications.
Manage outside vendors used to support NEII’s communications efforts.
Serve as staff liaison for NEII’s Communications Committee.
Support NEII team in writing presentations and creating slides.
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and three or more years’ experience in communications.
Strong demonstrated writing and speaking skills.
Experience with website and social media communications.
Experience in establishing an organization’s brand identity.
Ability to work effectively in a small team, remote office environment.
Effective project management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group.
Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and appropriately to media requests.
Experience with associations or the building transportation industry preferred but not required.
