The American Society of Hematology (ASH), a Washington, DC-based association of physicians and scientists committed to promoting blood disease research and education, seeks an experienced, strategic, and innovative Senior Manager, International Programs – a business leadership role that is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of programs that have an international scope. Collaborating with staff and relevant external constituents, the Senior Manager, International Programs serves as lead staff for multiple global programs, including but not limited to the Visitor Training Program, the Latin American Training Program, the partnership with Health Volunteers Overseas, and the African Newborn Screening and Early Intervention Consortium. The Senior Manager serves as the staff liaison to the International Members Committee and works with the ASH Executive Director to develop the strategic direction of the ASH international programs providing reports and recommendations to the Executive Committee as needed. The Senior Manager also supervises the International Programs staff.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five years of relevant experience, including program management with an international focus. An advanced degree is strongly preferred, a bachelor’s degree required. Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish; excellent oral and written communication skills, applying techniques for corresponding with individual for whom English is not a first language; ability to develop long-term term strategy with timeline of goals and deliverables; and keen detail-orientation with excellent organizational, project management, and follow-through skills are essential. Ability to coach, mentor, and oversee the professional development of other is strongly preferred. High ethical standards and professional demeanor, with a sensitivity to the nuances of dealing with international constituents; and ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and exhibit excellent customer service are also required
