The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 that represents over 91,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia and uniformed services, is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist to join our Marketing and Communications team located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Digital Communications and Market Intelligence, the Digital Communications Specialist will help advance projects and initiatives in support of the Marketing and Communications’ and AVMA’s strategic plans. This position will advance strategies by assisting with the development, coordination, production and monitoring of AVMA’s digital and market intelligence portfolios, including: AVMA.org, the staff intranet, social media, analytic tools, reports, dashboards, surveys and other digital mediums.
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, technology or related field, with a minimum of two years of digital communications experience, is required. Association experience and familiarity with association management systems is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. We require working experience and knowledge with HTML, CSS and web publishing. Experience with SharePoint, Drupal content management systems, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and Google Tag Manager are desired, along with familiarity of digital design, writing and editing principles. A successful candidate must be highly organized, with extreme attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously; and able to work effectively as a member of a team and independently. The flexibility to work outside regular business hours and travel on behalf of the AVMA is required, with approximately 5% travel.
