This position serves as the Communications Coordinator for Eastern Cantaloupe Growers Association, Florida Watermelon Association, Forest Products Society and Georgia Onsite Wastewater Association. In addition, this position may provide support and assistance to other ASG client associations as needed.
Requires organized, confident, self-starting individual with strong communication, journalism, project management, and customer service skills. The individual serving in this role must be able to positively interact with ASG staff, client leadership and maintain the ultimate customer service attitude to well represent ASG and ASG clients.
The purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of contact for these organizations as it relates to their communication needs. Each association has newsletters, websites and social media that are managed by this team member. In addition, The Forest Products Society publishes three international scholarly journals and puts on topical conferences for researchers around the world. Each of the Journals and Conferences has a management and marketing component that would be handled by this team member as well.
Fluency in Microsoft Excel and Word required. High school diploma required, college degree preferred. Background in agriculture a plus.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Computer proficiency– familiarity with email communication programs preferred (mail chimp, constant contact,)
Project management experience
Communications experience – writing, photography, social media, etc.
Meeting coordination experience
Self-starter – must be able to self-manage and prioritize programs accordingly
Attention to detail is a must
Critical thinking skills required to anticipate board wants and needs
Effective verbal and written communicator
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
Daily Tasks Could Include (among others):
Member Services - answering phones, online support for membership, interacting with board members, processing requests for information, etc.;
Communications – managing email newsletter creation and distribution; magazine coordination, social media oversight and marketing project management;
Meeting Coordination (limited) – location selection, food/beverage planning, create and set up online registration, preparation of onsite items (name badges, etc.); event marketing – emails and reminders etc.
