POSITION REPORTS TO: Executive Director, WAO
EMPLOYEE STATUS: Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for oversight of multiple committees, which includes professional communication via e-mail and in person, and membership outreach, which includes overseeing membership database and organizing targeted communications to members via e-mail, the WAO website and social media.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
Serve as the staff liaison to various WAO committees, including both scientific committees and the WAO Website Editorial Board;
Work with committee leaders to organize, manage, and oversee committee conference calls and in person meetings;
Coordinate with volunteer leaders to oversee the creation and distribution of an agenda and other needed documentation or reports to committee members;
Coordinate with committee leader(s) to assist in project management of organizational, operational, and communication tasks needed to complete goals/projects of the committees;
Maintain regular contact with member societies located in various regions of the world;
Oversee the membership database to guarantee accuracy and regularly update information;
Write, conduct, and analyze surveys and email campaigns targeted at membership to understand their needs and interests, then develop plans to fulfill these needs;
Plan and supervise the marketing, branding, and public relations efforts on behalf of WAO related to membership, meetings and educational programs or events through the use of: brochures, print ads, press releases, broadcast emails, participant materials, save the dates, and other communications;
In coordination with the WAO Website Editorial Board, coordinate all aspects of the WAO website and subsites assuring quality of content, page display, and functionality of programmed features and navigation;
Manage WAO social media initiatives and write content: responsible for monitoring and maintaining WAO social media accounts in collaboration with staff and WAO leaders, expanding reach, and tracking statistics.
Work with other Staff and EDI Support Services to fulfill other duties as assigned
AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: Approximately 2-5 weeks per year including some international travel; some weekend, early morning, and late evening work required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor degree preferred; excellent organizational, communication and writing skills; team player; ability to prioritize varied assignments and handle multiple tasks. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, website browsers, and databases is required. Experience with HTML and web content management system is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimal lifting required. Ability to move quickly within large meeting facilities.
