The WateReuse Association, a national trade association representing municipalities, water utilities and businesses engaged in water reuse, is seeking a Policy Director to lead its federal policy work, including its legislative and regulatory advocacy program. The position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of the Association's policy efforts including its engagement with Congress and the Federal agencies. Specifically, the Policy Director is responsible for representing the Association at meetings on Capitol Hill, with Federal agencies and with other water sector stakeholders.
Working with the Association's Policy Committee, the Policy Director supports development of the Association's positions on water-related policy and funding matters, and is responsible for drafting policy statements, letters, member communications and other policy-related materials. In addition, the Policy Director is responsible for monitoring and tracking legislation and regulations of interest to the Association's members, reporting developments as they occur, and identifying legislative and regulatory opportunities to advance the Association's policy agenda.
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years or equivalent of policy experience on Capitol Hill, working knowledge of federal water policy, strong written and oral communications skills, an ability to work collaboratively with others, and desire to work in a small staff environment that places a premium on self-initiative. Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree a plus. Competitive salary and benefits provided.
