Job summary: Assists in managing recruitment campaigns, state and affiliate relationship support, and member services and retention activities. Provides programmatic and administrative support to ICMA’s membership team and members. Responsible for activities including, but not limited to, data management, analyzing and reporting, supporting internal and external relationships, and coordinating mailings.

Member Benefits & Services
Member Benefits & Services team member, provides quality and timely service to ICMA’s 12,000 + members, collaborates across teams, problem solves, research, and data management:
Assists with membership retention efforts via phone and email outreach campaigns, records and reports results
Collects and analyzes data for non-renewals, prepares data for import, uses information to recommend enhancements to benefits and services. Tracks and reports on status of former members
Processes member applications, renewals, and updates
Supports ongoing membership data integrity and cleanup efforts
Maintains inventory of membership applications and related supplies
Provides information regarding benefits, products, and services
Acts as front-line member services team member. Researches and responds to a wide range of inbound phone and email inquiries, troubleshoots problems as needed.
Assists in developing, managing, and enhancing recruitment campaigns including Members on the Move and State by State Strategy. Supports the recruitment Program Manager in analyzing member and potential member data. Works with Program Manager to recruit members in specific demographics to meet ICMA’s strategic plan and membership goals. Responsible for implementing, tracking, and reporting results of new and ongoing programs:
Identifies recruitment leads and manages prospective member data; tracks and reports on outreach and results
Compares state association membership data against ICMA membership records, scrubs data for import; provides reporting for gap analysis
Conducts multiple recruitment mailings, tracks resulting member joins.
State and Regional Support
Administers ICMA’s state affiliate relationships including coordinating Regional Directors and Regional Vice Presidents support:
Manages ICMA web content including leadership directories and related pages
Curator and editor of weekly newsletter Membership Monday
Manages online calendar of state and affiliate association meetings
Supports internal and external liaisons when they represent ICMA at state and affiliate meetings
Provides requested reports and supplies in advance of meetings
Coordinates logistics for regional meetings at the annual conference
Manages travel expense reimbursement requests and provides administrative support as needed.
What you need to be successful in this role: Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required
At least 2-3 years professional association experience required
Experience in local government, public administration, or nonprofit management is helpful
Proficient in Excel, MS Office and AMS or CRM software
Able to work quickly and accurately using a variety of software programs and systems
Must have experience in association management, local government, or public administration in addition to excellent communication, organization, and customer service and database skills, attention to detail, and a positive, can-do attitude.
