Under the direction of the Director of Member Services at the American College of Surgeons, this position will oversee and ensure the successful coordination and performance of the Member Services Department. Responsibilities include coordination and evaluation of business operations, high level customer service and support, budget management, employee development, strategic planning and new program and product development, creative problem solving, and internal/external communications. The position will be responsible for ensuring that timelines are met, that all areas understand their role in the development of any new programs, products or enhancements, and serve as a communications liaison to all ACS Divisions.
This exempt position will report to the Director in the Division of Member Services.
• Work with the Director of the Division of Member Services and other senior leadership to implement Member Services’ objectives and priorities, determine program and product aims and resource needs, and develop strategies to achieve program goals and objectives.
• In the absence of the Director of Member Services, be responsible for overseeing program operations including high level staff management and coordination of all areas.
• Develop policies, procedures, and monitor tracking and evaluation systems to ensure timely, efficient, cost-effective administration of the assigned Member Services program and staff, as well as ensure successful program and product development, launch, and evaluation.
• Develop and monitor budgets for business operations.
• Serve as the Division liaison on cross-divisional projects and committees, and represent the Division on external committees and in leadership meetings with division directors and ACS senior staff.
• Develop and maintain optimal operational functions across the Division including, but not limited to, new/ongoing program and product development, communication, participant services, customer service, and business development.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of university is required; additional graduate level coursework a plus.
• Minimum of 7-10+ years of experience in a high level business operations management role is required, including several years of staff supervisory experience.
• Expertise in strategy execution, budget development and management, grantsmanship, and/or change management preferred.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.
• Capable of providing excellent customer service.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is required to make specific work assignments to others and to ensure their timely and accurate completion. This position will complete formal Annual Performance Evaluations of others.
Fiscal Management: This position is required to develop and manage the department’s annual, program or project budget.
Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching bending and stooping. Performs work in a normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.
Other Necessary Requirements: Evening or weekend duties may be required. Moderate travel (i.e., quarterly) for activities such as out of town meetings is required.
