NAHB is seeking a Senior Vice President (SVP), Business Development and Brand Strategy. The SVP will be responsible for directing, managing, coordinating and implementing business development strategy and activities associated with new and existing products and programs. Responsibilities also include providing a vision for NAHB's short and long-term revenue growth and ensuring annual growth of NAHB's non-dues revenue by working with affiliated state and local home builder associations (HBAs), conducting contract negotiations, and coordinating marketing activities for other NAHB programs within the organization.
The SVP will oversee marketing, sponsorship programs, and advertising sales. He/she will work in collaboration with the Exhibitions and Meetings team, which is responsible for planning and executing logistics of the International Builders' Show and exposition sales. The SVP will interact with all levels of staff, NAHB members, state and local HBAs, and external customers.
Qualified candidates will have superior problem-solving skills, which are analytical, creative, and results-oriented. Candidates should also have superior interpersonal skills, be a team player attitude, and have the ability to multitask and handle several unrelated initiatives simultaneously. This also requires superior written and verbal communications skills, the ability to delegate well, and superb organizational skills to ensure the completion of team projects and goals.
Candidates will have the ability to successfully work with all levels of staff, NAHB members, affiliated HBAs and external customers. Candidates should also possess strong negotiation skills, with the ability to prepare effective strategies while remaining flexible in the negotiations to ensure a win-win outcome. Familiarity and comfort with e-commerce and other electronic marketing tools are a must. Demonstrated abilities to build and coach a team, build a business and deliver on commitments are essential.
A minimum of 15 years of business experience in sales and business development with eight years of successful management/supervisory experience is required. Experience should include, but is not limited to: successfully developing, pricing, promoting, selling, distributing, and evaluating products and services. Candidates should have demonstrated technical and management experience in identifying and developing business opportunities, and developing and implementing non-dues revenue programs, and e-business. Candidates should also have experience working in consulting firms or consultative relationships, successfully identifying business opportunities and providing recommended actions. Budget development and management, and sales experience in a for-profit or revenue-generating environment is required. Candidates should also have building industry and association management experience. A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a similar area of study is required. An advanced degree is a plus.
