We are a small nonprofit in the northern VA area and we have been tasked to grow our association. Part of our growth is designing/developing and launching our own certification program.

While we do not expect our new Credentialing Director to possess a deep knowledge of our members profession, in this highly visible role, you will soon develop an understanding. And as our certification program develops and your knowledge of our member’s industry grows, you will become our expert Credentialing Manager and lead our credentialing program to success.
Responsibilities of our Credentialing Director
Act as primary liaison and adviser to all credentialing stakeholders
Ensure stakeholders are represented appropriately in credential development and implementation
Conduct official credentialing-related correspondence
Ensure appropriate relationships between the credentialing function and the Credentialing Board of Directors and other organization functions
Establish us as a recognized certifier in the industry, according to recognized certification/credentialing standards stays abreast of current certification/credentialing practices and regulations and communicates important matters to the Credentialing Board
Communicates with regulatory bodies and other outside organizations regarding trends in credentialing
Build and maintain end-to-end credentialing programs
Coordinate marketing strategies with internal and external marketing teams to generate awareness of credentialing offerings and their value to one’s career
Manage credentialing operations
Manage credentialing-related contracted and volunteer relationships
Manage complaints, appeals and disciplinary processes
Ensure effective implementation of our credentialing management system (documentation of objectives, policies and procedures, document control, records control, internal audits, corrective and preventive action, and management review)
Ensure security and confidentiality of all examination and applicant/credential holder information
Ensure processes, policies and procedures are in compliance with credentialing industry standards (such as ISO 17024 personnel certification standard or ASTM E2659 certificate standard, as appropriate)
Monitor the budget and provide financial updates to management as needed
Ensure credentialing staff and contractors operate within defined and approved budget
Human Resource oversight
Monitor contract work relating to credentialing activities
Assess personnel resources (staff and contractors) to ensure adequate personnel are available for credentialing activities
Coach and mentor staff for ongoing performance improvements

Qualifications of the Credentialing Director
Demonstrated project management skills, certified professional a plus
Experience in credentialing/education program development; association experience preferred
Financial tracking and budget development experience
Solid computer/technical experience and knowledge (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, database management, e-learning tools such as learning management systems
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills to initiate and develop productive working partnerships with key stakeholders organization-wide
Strong written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated sound business judgment
Demonstrated leadership and management skills
Professional knowledge and awareness
High standards and strong work ethic
Ability to travel domestically on occasion
Minimum Employment Standards of the Credentialing Director
3+ years of working in project management position required
At least three years in certification/credentialing field preferred
Experience working with volunteers/committees in an association context preferred
