Professional association looking for a Meetings Manger to lead planning and production of all domestic events and support International events. Under the direction of the Director of Meetings and Exposition, the Meeting Manager is responsible for performing Meetings Manager related duties on a professional level working on multiple national and international large-scale conferences and expositions along with smaller one day events. This position carries out responsibilities including the oversite and facilitation of all aspects of meeting planning from budgeting to site selection, vendor/venue contract negotiations, pricing, logistics, room block, registration, onsite staffing and post-event reporting. This position is detail oriented and requires excellent skills in oral and written communications and providing extensive customer service. It requires demonstrated proficiencies in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, attendees and suppliers; identify their needs and ensure customer satisfaction; ability work in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions while remaining calm under pressure.
Bachelor’s degree- Degree in Event Management or related field or Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) preferred but not required.
5+ years professional meeting experience including expositions
Up to date on current trends in the meetings industry
Innovative and resourceful; actively seeks opportunities to improve meetings and events
Previous experience in negotiating and building partnerships with vendors/venues
Strong time management skills and ability to manage concurrent tasks efficiently
Ability to work with high level executives as well as being a team player with co-workers
Ability to maintain poise and professionalism under pressure
High energy, positive, professional attitude, pride in work product
Creative and willing to think outside the box
Knowledge and proficiency in using the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) and experience using CRM software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working up event budgets and implementation
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
