The Director of Leadership Development and Executive Search Services has the privilege of leading many of the MASB's board services, working hands-on with Michigan's 4000+ school board trustees and managing a diverse portfolio of events and services.

Director of Leadership Development and Executive Search Services
SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for the success of the association’s leadership development and executive search services including but not limited to the board certification (CBA) program, MASB’s Annual Leadership Conference, the area representative program and school board consultative services such as superintendent search, strategic planning and in-district governance workshops. This position reports directly to the executive director and leads a high performing team of 7 regular staff, 20+ consultants and is an integral member of the association’s management team.
Determine strategic direction of leadership development and executive search programs
Ensure high caliber governance and executive search supports for boards of education
Propose and implement programs and services to support Michigan’s school districts and district leadership
Provide assistance to boards of education and district administrators on matters relating to the superintendency, i.e. search, selection, evaluation, etc.
Design and facilitate in-district board development workshops/retreats/strategic planning
Present CBAs, conference clinic sessions and outside presentations as needed
Recruit, coach and ensure the development of regular staff and consultants
Responsible for accurate preparation and oversight of budgets and related reports
Ensure smooth operation of department administration, consistent with MASB policies
Represent department with MASB management team and board of directors
Attend MASB & related organization’s events (CBAs, conferences, workshops, etc.)
Contribute to strategic thinking/planning in the association
Liaise with other organizations, departments and committees
Ensure the promotion and marketing of LDESS services
Uphold a strict level of confidentiality
Develop and sustain a level of professionalism among staff, members, school district personnel and partnering agencies
Advanced degree in related field (Education, Adult Learning, Human Resources, Business, etc.)
8-10 years of executive level leadership experience with responsibilities of staff and budgetary oversight
Exemplifies the highest moral, professional and ethical behavior
Keen understanding of and experience with public education and board governance

Additional Salary Information: Salary/Benefits: This is a full-time salaried position. Regular work days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00pm; some evening and weekend work required. Full benefit package. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. MASB is not part of Michigan’s Public School Retirement System.
