The Board of Directors of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) and its members are seeking an authentic leader with superior communication and relationship skills to serve as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
PAEA is the only national organization representing Physician Assistant (PA) educational programs. PAEA works to ensure quality PA education through the development and distribution of educational services and products specifically geared toward meeting the emerging needs of PA programs, the PA profession, and the healthcare industry. The growth in physician assistant educational programs in recent years has been exponential, and there is an expectation that the number of programs will continue to grow at a significant rate. This growth has created a need for PAEA to develop additional support programs and services to provide member institutions as well as the transition from a primarily volunteer-led organization to one that relies on professional staff for day to day operations.
PAEA seeks in its CEO a leader who can be a voice and advocate in communicating complexities and priorities of physician assistant education, who will oversee the development of programs and services that further that education, and who can build relationships with a broad base of constituents with similar but not identical missions. They will be a gifted bridge builder, capable of capitalizing on the similarities of focus amongst the members and strategic partners and rallying around a common strategy and message.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will work closely with the Board, PAEA staff and sister PA organizations to further develop the strategic vision to achieve the organization's goals and objectives and ensure that policy positions pursued continue to be innovative, reflective, and supportive of members' needs.
The new CEO must have a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, delivering results in the educational as well as advocacy arena, having exceptional relationships and coalition-building skills and serving as a spokesperson on issues of critical importance. As an influential and visible leader, the chief executive will be a visionary and an adept communicator, someone who inspires trust and collaboration, who brings innovative thinking, managerial prowess and substantial skill at ensuring execution.
