The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), located in Washington, DC, is seeking an HR professional to join the leadership team as the Assistant Director, Human Resources. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Assistant Director leads and directs the Human Resource function of HRS by developing and implementing HR strategy, managing the HR budget, developing and researching policies and programs, and providing strategic and critical thinking and direction to the leadership of the organization. This leader will manage all human resource related activities including recruitment, retention, compensation, employee relations, labor law compliance, performance management, benefits administration, and training and development.
Major Responsibilities include:
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization’s HR function, policies, and programs.
Manage the day-to-day functions of HR.
Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives, and rewards for effective performance.
In coordination with the Finance department, manage payroll and benefits administration.
Manage all aspects of employee relations including coaching managers and employees on all employment laws and employee relations matters.
Establish rapport with management and employees as a collaborator, effective listener, and problem solver.
Develop HR planning models to identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps and develop specific programs for filling the gaps.
Participate in talent management through proper succession planning, training and development, and career coaching.
Serve as key partner, advisor, and coach to the CEO and other Executive team members in the development of plans and programs for the organization, particularly as they relate to and impact the staff.
Mentor and coach all levels of staff and serve as an organizational ambassador of the mission, goals, and corporate values.
HRS is seeking an HR professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or combination of relevant experience, training, and/or education; plus ten years of progressive experience leading a human resources function. In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment and labor laws is required. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs as well as strong analytical, financial, presentation and business acumen. A Master’s degree, SHRM or HRCI certification, and/or experience with HRIS and ADP is preferred.
