ASME (American Society for Mechanical Engineers) is a world-renowned, member-based professional organization focused on serving the technical, educational, and other programmatic needs of the global engineering and technology communities. ASME generates approximately $110 million annually from the sale of products and services, and provides a wide range of mission-focused programs and activities. We are currently seeking an Administrator, Global Public Affairs for our office in Washington, DC.
This role provides organizational and operational support for programs and initiatives associated with ASME’s Global Public Affairs department and Washington office, including but not limited to International Relations and Government Relations. This individual operates as lead for scheduling ASME Congressional meetings, providing primary administrative and logistics support for the Managing Director of Global Public Affairs, and the operations and staff needs under his/her purview, including ASME’s international offices.
Other Duties will include:
Work closely with the Managing Director, GPA and Manager, GPA on executing the department’s programs, initiatives, content, and promotion.
Provide administrative support related to the GPA department and its Managing Director, including the dissemination and drafting of internal and external reports, meeting minutes, and scheduling.
Assist in the coordination of ASME Congressional briefings.
Assist in the coordination of diversity/inclusion, engineering education, engineering for global development, and industry/government relations initiatives.
Assist in the operations of the Washington office and local events.
Other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidate must be able to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to manage simultaneous assignments, projects, initiatives, and outreach. In addition to:
Excellent organization, logistics planning, and research skills
Ability to complete assignments on time and deliver quality, detail-oriented work
Exemplary written and oral communication skills
Experience in analyzing options and presenting strategic ideas and/or solutions
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Photoshop
Undergraduate degree preferred
