The Accounting Supervisor supervises 2 to 3 accounting / clerical staff and reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The individual, along with the CFO, is responsible for the financial information of the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), The Foundation of the ASNR and its specialty/regional/international societies.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Accounting Supervisor will manage their staff in the timely and accurate recording, reporting and analysis of financial accounting data for the American Society of Neuroradiology and 8 to 10 non-profit separate legal entity societies. This includes the maintenance, implementing enhancements / controls and the documentation of an adequate system for accounting records and reports.
Supervise staff consisting of accounts payable, accounting department staff and / or temporary accounting staff
Oversee and/or prepare accurate and timely daily transactions, including accounts payable, revenue / receivables, general ledger, payroll and monthly accruals
Balance sheet reconciliations and subsystem reconciliations (payables, revenue, association membership billing /receivables, fixed assets and vendor reports / systems such as payroll, investments, banking and credit cards) and timely record non-timing reconciling items
Participate in audits and prepare various audit analysis
Assist the CFO with the production of the annual budget and budget to actual reporting and analysis
Manage / perform the month-end and year-end closing of financial for ASNR and corresponding legal entity societies
Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department
Organize financial data into useable information and maintain updated records
Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives
Prepare month-end and year-end financial statements for review with the CFO before being issued
Work with the CFO in establishing and implementing accounting policies and procedures. Participate in documentation and testing of key internal controls.
Ensure compliance with governmental laws and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Manage the SAGE accounting applications (general ledger, chart of accounts, closing periods, controls, accounts payable, enhancements, etc.)
Perform special projects, as required, to assist the department and the company in achieving its goals and objectives.

Experienced as an Accounting Supervisor and in delegating accounting and clerical tasks among team members
Proven work experience with SAGE accounting software and crystal reporting
Experience handling the monthly and year-end closings
Experience with Microsoft suite of products with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Access
Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and regulations
A problem-solving attitude with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in meeting established deadlines.

Four to six years of accounting experience
Two years supervisor experience of accounting staff
Prior non-profit association experience
BS degree in Accounting
Accounting certification (e.g. CMA or CPA)
