Meals on Wheels America is looking for a detail-oriented Manager to work with the Strategy and Impact team. The ideal candidate is an individual with strong verbal and written communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and ability to flexibly adapt and execute a multi-faceted portfolio. This position reports to the Senior Director, Strategy & Impact and is grant supported for the period September 2019 – August 2022.
The Manager, Strategy & Impact at Meals on Wheels America is responsible for supporting our portfolio aimed at ameliorating the negative consequences of social isolation and loneliness, with particular emphasis on our growing pet initiative. Our recently announced partnership with PetSmart Charities provides a three-year grant to Meals on Wheels America aimed at expanding pet programming in local communities. The initiatives will include research to better understand the needs of local programs in building pet programs, the design and implementation of a grant giving program for local Meals on Wheels programs, and community coalition building. This position will support the design of the pet program and have day-to day responsibility for implementation.
Duties and responsibilities
Supports the design of the Meals on Wheels America socialization portfolio with primary responsibilities to our pet initiative.
Directs the pet-focused, grant giving for local Meals on Wheels programs, including design, management, and evaluation.
Manages implementation of the Pet Program work plan, including carrying out basic project management responsibilities in support of the partnership with PetSmart Charities.
Facilitates the Pet Advisory Committee, whose function is to inform, advise, and review the socialization strategy as it relates to Pets.
Develops strong relationships with local Meals on Wheels providers, and other external stakeholders, to effectively execute projects and operations.
Assists in research efforts to support Meals on Wheels America.
Provide support to other Strategy and Impact and Meals on Wheels America initiatives as needed.
Qualifications or Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
Project management experience of complex, multi-year projects.
Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects while maintaining strong communication with team members, grantees, and vendors.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a strong team dynamic.
Good interpersonal and listening skills.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to Meals on Wheels America members, vendors, and staff.
Some familiarity with Association Management Systems (i.e. NetForum) and Grant Management Systems (i.e. Foundant), preferred.
Strong organizational, planning and writing skills.
Excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
