The organization serves the diverse needs of California healthcare districts through advocacy and education. With 79 member districts, the primary constituency group is the elected board members providing governance and leadership to each district. Healthcare districts respond to the needs in their District by providing a range of services, which may include a hospital, clinic, skilled nursing facility or emergency medical services as well as education and wellness programs. California’s healthcare districts can be found throughout the state, in both urban and rural settings, and offering a variety of services including community grant making, chronic disease management education, senior services, ambulance services, primary care clinics, dental clinics, nutritional counseling, physical education, long-term care/skilled nursing, senior housing and acute hospital care. In many instances, healthcare districts are the sole source of health care in the community, thus serving as an integral part of the safety net for the state’s uninsured/underinsured In the context of the changing economic models being pursued for healthcare, healthcare districts are “pioneers rather than settlers”. California’s healthcare districts recognize that the key to a healthy community is an educated community, one with access to resources that promote well-being. THE POSITION Reporting to the Board and regularly working in ACHD’s Sacramento office, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the leadership and management of the organization’s overall operations in accordance with the strategic priorities adopted by the Association. |
