Job Summary:
The Associate Director, Marketing/Communications leads the organization’s efforts in developing internal and external marketing strategies to increase awareness of and participation in the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Incumbent will build and execute a strong brand for the organization; communicate with and provide resources for existing members; drive revenue through increased advertising, membership and event sales; and communicate key priorities for the organization with external stakeholders, staff and members. This position will oversee the marketing team with two staff members and will maintain responsibility for IASLC marketing channels to include website, social media, marketing collateral and collaborate on the strategy of the organization’s communication and public relations efforts.
Essential Functions:
Reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision and identity of the IASLC.
Establish strong partnerships with your cross-functional peers related to all projects the Marketing/Communications team supports, improving trust and collaboration across the organization.
Develop, implement and manage the IASLC’s marketing and communications plans to include timelines, annual cycle and targeted campaigns.
Create, implement, and measure the success of a comprehensive marketing plan that enhances the IASLC’s image and position and facilitates internal and external communications.
Work with IASLC Leadership Team and stakeholders across the organization to deliver effective, integrated marketing solutions, ensuring that branding is applied cohesively and consistently across the IASLC.
Develops and coordinates the promotion of IASLC meetings, programs, and events to members, participants, sponsors, and key stakeholders through clear, consistent communications and marketing that supports strategic goals.
Oversee analysis and metrics for all major campaigns across a variety of platforms and recommend appropriate direction changes.
Develop and oversee organizational relationships, vendors, and budgets.
Attend IASLC meetings and events to provide onsite marketing/communications support.
Write, edit and manage content for internal and external communications.
Identify and employ new communication tactics, marketing campaigns, engagement tools, and distribution channels to improve delivery and recognition.
Establish and adhere to budgets, timelines, and work plans to ensure marketing efforts stay on track and meet or exceed performance expectations.
Create a positive environment where team members feel safe to communicate openly, share constructive criticism and contribute innovative ideas.
Help foster a positive culture between Marketing/ Communications staff and their peers, coaching them on courageous communication and facilitating positive interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field combined with relevant work experience
10 years of experience in progressively responsible marketing or communications management roles
Experience in oversight of digital and print content creation, design and production of print materials and publications, website and social media activities
Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator, InDesign, and other design and publishing software
Strong leadership and management skills
Ability to work independently and responsibly while managing multiple concurrent projects
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in person or through writing
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with various internal teams
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10-15%)
