The Society of American Florists (SAF) seeks a motivated and innovative membership professional to join our energetic and growing team. As SAF begins implementation of its new strategic plan, we’re looking for a membership manager who can increase current member engagement with SAF’s products and services, create comprehensive campaigns to recruit and onboard new members and expand SAF’s visibility in the industry in order to reach new member segments. This role will work collaboratively with SAF’s communications and content areas to develop successful marketing campaigns that position SAF as a top of mind resource and industry leader. This newly-created position is a great opportunity for someone looking to lead membership initiatives for an association that is future-focused and willing to reject the status quo in order to successfully implement our new strategic plan.
Primary Duties include:
Lead a membership team to develop and implement recruitment, onboarding and retention campaigns that align with the goals established in the SAF strategic plan.
Support the volunteer leadership’s grassroots efforts in membership recruitment and retention.
Identify “at risk” members and develop strategies to engage them with the association.
Implement procedures to ensure data integrity—and expansion—so that we learn more about our members and can better target them based on their needs.
Supervise department staff and manage day-to-day operations of the department.
Establish procedures and accountability to ensure that membership team provides exceptional customer service.
Use analytics of recruitment and retention campaigns to refine future efforts and improve results.
Develop and maintain strong connections with SAF members and professionals in the floral industry.
Identify and develop new prospects for membership recruitment and product sales.
Plan and coordinate recruitment, retention and marketing outreach at meetings and industry events.
Four to six years professional experience working in membership for an association.
Experience managing staff.
Ability to develop strategy, execute and analyze recruitment, retention and sales and marketing initiatives.
Knowledge of data management and analysis, including “in the weeds” experience using an association management system (knowledge of Impexium is a bonus).
Experience working with volunteer leaders and boards.
Budget oversight or management experience.
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
Outstanding customer service skills and a “can do” attitude.
Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects and assignments.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment as well as independently with minimal direction.
Experience working collaboratively across departments and with organization leadership.
