The National Agricultural Aviation Association, a fast-paced and professional national association, is looking for an energetic Director of Finance & Operations to manage the financial, accounting, information technology, human resources, workspace environment and administrative operations for the national association. We are looking for a committed candidate who is hard working, a leader and has excellent customer service skills. This position reports to the NAAA CEO and has the support of administrative personnel of staff and external contractors. The ideal candidate should have strong skills in accounting, finance, information technology, human resources policy, and association management. This job involves 5-10% of domestic and limited Canadian travel.
Director of Finance and Operations Responsibilities:
Manage/execute all financial operations, including revenue, expenses, cash flow, tax, insurance, payroll and benefits, financial reports and analyses, audit preparation.
Lead the annual budgeting process, including projecting annual revenue for the organization, and providing guidance to staff on revenue and expense status and management.
Lead engagement with NAAA’s external auditor, tax preparer, investment portfolio manager, and association and personnel insurance brokers.
Manage risk and ensure compliance with relevant policies, laws, regulations and standards through contract review, securing and maintaining appropriate insurance coverage, human resources benefits and policies, and maintaining internal controls.
Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial data, reports, budgets and trends on a routine basis, including Board meeting presentations. Serve as primary liaison with Board of Director’s Budget & Finance, Nominating and Insurance Committees.
Ensure that the organization’s information technology and communication service needs, including software, hardware and connectivity, document management as well as membership software management and financial software and services in use continue to meet needs of association and staff.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree and/or significant background in business/finance/accounting.
7 + years’ experience in financial management & operations.
Strong software skills: QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and AMS system expertise (preferably Naylor AMS).
Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks and experience in choosing and implementing IT solutions.
Knowledge of non-profit/association practices and requirements.
Familiarity with human resources, benefits administration and compliance.
Proven planning and organizational skills; detail orientation with the ability to prioritize work.
Self-aware, team-player, detail oriented, collaborative, flexible, positive, resilient, and proactive.
