The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) has an immediate opening for a Director of its registry and outcome science arm, the NeuroPoint Alliance (NPA). The NeuroPoint Alliance, incorporated as a 501(c)6 organization, is dedicated to improving the quality, safety, and effectiveness of neurosurgical care through the acquisition, analysis, and dissemination of clinical data via registry and outcome science. Focusing on outcomes, patient registries, and other healthcare quality improvement initiatives, the NPA is a valuable resource for physicians, related practices, hospitals, patients and industry. The NPA is housed in the AANS offices in Rolling Meadows, IL.
The Director of Registries and Date Science will be responsible for strategic and executive leadership, working with the NPA Board of Directors and senior AANS leaders to develop business plans supporting NPA and AANS registries and QI objectives. The Director will develop and manage multispecialty partnerships, overall registry operations, relevant healthcare stakeholder relationships and vendor/platform oversight.
Works with the CEO, NPA Board of Directors and senior AANS leaders to establish the mission and vision for NeuroPoint Alliance
Develops and administers the business plan in fulfillment of established strategy, ensuring program financial stability
Evaluates, establishes and manages alliance partnerships, collaborative relationships, vendors, and providers of NPA active projects
Oversees project managers and others responsible for data collection, submission, analysis, and improvement across registry platforms to ensure excellent data quality
Leads efforts to develop an ongoing strategic framework for data analytics, data governance, data use, and monetization
Oversees all aspects of clinical data governance
Works collaboratively with participants (sites contributing data), partners, registry/platform providers, and electronic health record (her) vendors to lead efforts towards data standardization, integration, and advanced collection efficiencies, particularly across NPA registry efforts.
Directs overall operations and manages NPA staff
Develops and manages NPA’s budgets and maximizes AANS/NREF/NPA resources to achieve program goals.
Oversees the development and update of policies and procedures for NPA operations.
Evaluates and improves business and operational processes for participating sites.
Collaborates with the Chief Development Officer of the Neurosurgery Researchand Education Foundationand NPA leadership on fundraising for NPA projects, as well as development and execution of corporate relations strategies.
Liaises with staff in partner offices on issues relating to national quality metrics and regulatory reporting as well as AANS member needs related to same
Ensures compliance with national physician clinical registry specifications and national reporting and submission requirements
Coordinates with partner offices in outreach to stakeholders (federal agencies, third party payers, private and government regulatory agencies, certification and oversight groups, etc.)
Integrate data science scholars into regular operations
Bachelor’s degree required
Advanced degree in related field (MBA, MPH, MHSA) or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Health professional degree preferred
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of relevant patient registry and data science operations experience required; minimum five (5) years’ management and executive leadership experience demonstrating successful multi-project management, business
Extensive experience working and collaborating with a variety of organizations in the areas of registry operations, performance measurement, quality improvement, data analysis and data applications
Understanding of healthcare regulatory and technology environment
Experience in association governance and board/committee management required
Experience working with/convening multi-stakeholder groups to advance initiatives
Demonstrated communication skills
Proven ability to lead and direct staff, collaborate with physician leadership, with vision to achieve short and long term business goals
History of coordinating and collaborating with multiple constituencies (vendors, boards, other associations on partnered projects, internal departments, clients, physician leaders, learners, etc.)
Availability for weekend meetings and evening conference calls consistent with working with physician leaders and program participants
