Rent Responsibly is a national network of short-term rental alliance chapters. Through remote chapter support services, hands-on training, and centralized technology, we enable local groups of STR advocates to work together effectively with their policy-makers and communities to create fair rules for STRs in their towns. The Chapter Manager plays a central role in the effectiveness and ultimate success of Rent Responsibly chapters. During an ordinance process, the Chapter Manager makes it possible for local short-term rental advocates to focus their critical limited hours on the things only they can do: engage with their elected officials, local business allies, and broader communities and fight for a fair ordinance outcome. Outside of an ordinance process, the Chapter Manager leads the development of a chapter toward self sustainability, meaning a robust group with an engaged membership, regular events, and an effective, motivated leadership team. The Chapter Manager will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Head of Advocacy and Head of Chapter Success. This is a full-time position expected to start in February. Primary Duties: - Setting up new chapters on Rent Responsibly software
- Managing chapter leadership team meeting logistics, including scheduling, note-taking, and action item tracking
- Monitoring city council meetings and other activities at city hall, keeping chapter members up to date and informed on the activities, and activating them around important advocacy actions in coordination with the leadership committee
- Managing chapter event logistics, such as Zoom webinar setup, slide deck creation, and invitation emails
- Coordinating with partner organizations
- Supporting the recruitment of new members, leadership team members, and allies
- Monitoring and moderating chapters’ email inboxes, social media accounts, and discussion forums
- Regularly updating the Rent Responsibly team and/or partners on chapter progress, challenges and accomplishments
- Assisting in the sourcing of advocates willing to write or put their name on LTEs and op-eds
Secondary Duties: - Contributing to content projects, such as sourcing potential subjects for Rent Responsibly profile stories, identifying new content needed to support chapter members, and assisting in the distribution of new resources
- Coordinating or contributing to special projects, such as pilots and surveys
- Identifying and/or building relationships with reporters and other media contacts in chapter markets
