A college degree in PR, journalism, communications, English, or related field is preferred, with at least 10 years of relevant experience in PR, preferably in a trade association, PR agency, business enterprise, or combination thereof. Must possess a deep knowledge of PR and social media strategy and public policy, and hands-on expertise in media relations, including prior experience serving as a spokesperson. Established relationships with business, economics, human resource trade, and associated media outlets and reporters and familiarity with and interest in employment and economic trends desired.
Prefer a creative professional who is proficient with Associated Press or similar journalistic editorial style standards and possesses a good eye for quality design that supports communications objectives in various mediums. Must be a detail-oriented, savvy, flexible self-starter and excellent writer who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven working environment who can successfully motivate and manage one staff member (PR coordinator) and a variety of teams (PR agency of record; association members/volunteers; and internal and external writers, designers, and technicians) involved in preparing and delivering content to news media and through a wide range of association communications vehicles. The ideal candidate is a confident public speaker with prior experience briefing c-level executives.
