The Easterseals national office in downtown Chicago is searching for a positive experienced finance leader who is highly skilled in all aspects of non for profit finance/general accounting from both operational and strategical standpoints. This newly created role will be responsible for general finance, accounting, payroll, planning/analysis, and audit functions. Additionally, the incumbent will work closely with the CFO and others in leadership.

What is the Opportunity?
As part of the Finance team, the Controller reports to the CFO and manages a team of four direct reports. Additionally, the incumbent will assist the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing the planning, control, and effective utilization of the financial resources across all of Easter Seals. Other duties include the following:
Selects, trains/orients, assigns department accounting staff, evaluates performance, develops and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
Establishes accounting procedures and internal controls and assures that procedures and controls are documented correctly and evaluates them as needed.
Supervises all activities and personnel related to the general ledger including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset and payroll systems including financial statement reporting ensuring everything meets established standards.
Prepares and files 990 Form and assists with all other regulatory reporting.
Assures accurate accounting of government grants and manages the A-133 audit function and the grant program financial functions and communications ensuring compliance with regulations under OMB Circular A-133.
Assures month-end account reconciliations are performed accurately and timely.
Plans, coordinates, and prepares for year-end audits. Ascertains that the assets of the national headquarters are properly accounted for and reconciled.
Works collaboratively with the Director of Treasury Operations on budget preparation.
Consults and advises management on financial issues, compliance, and risk management.
Devises and recommends new or modified accounting systems to provide complete and accurate financial and statistical reports and are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Assists the Chief Financial Officer in facilitating the Finance and Audit Committee meetings of the Board and meeting minutes.
Develops financial reports for Board and Board Committees and periodically delivers presentations to the Board and Board Committees.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
