The National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) is seeking an economist to produce timely and relevant analysis of economic and credit union trends, conduct original research, and present findings to the Association and its members. This position reports to VP of Research/Chief Economist.

What you'll do:
The primary responsibilities of the Economist are to conduct and present original economic and industry research for internal and external stakeholders and to work with NAFCU colleagues to formulate advocacy positions and execute strategies. The position requires the ability to organize and manipulate financial data from various internal and external sources, maintain databases, conduct policy research, work with external researchers, and prepare written and oral presentations.
In addition, you will assist other division of Government Affairs in identifying needs for research and helping to find and provide data that will support advocacy positions taken with regulators and legislators.
Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
Experience with primary data collection and manipulation, creating and maintaining databases, conducting research and analysis, and creating reports and presentations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Ability to quickly learn and utilize a variety of computer software applications, including experience in R and/or SAS.
Strong writing, proofreading, and presentation skills.
Careful attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
May be required to travel for presentations and conferences. This position is open to a geographically remote candidate.
