Under general direction, the Foundation Administrative Assistant performs varied office, gift maintenance and clerical duties for Foundation and relieves supervisor of minor administrative duties. Maintains a close and highly responsive relationship regarding the day-to-day office and donor activities of the Foundation with supervisor.
Work requires knowledge and understanding of the college and Foundation’s nonprofit philosophy, programs, and procedures. The Administrative Assistant is dedicated to the learning college concepts by facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. Additional duties include:
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Ability to effectively interface with constituents in a college environment (faculty, staff, students), board members, alumni and donors
Outstanding customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Ability to work with a database and build complex data reports
Capability of handling confidential material and maintaining confidence
Above average written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
Ability to exercise judgment, discretion and excellent initiative
Associate’s Degree in administrative assistant, secretarial science, or related area; professional administrative assistant certificate; or equivalent college hours required.
Minimum of 4 years of administrative assistant or related experience required.
Experience working in a nonprofit environment and understanding of donor gift processing a plus.
Proficiency testing with HR which may include, but not limited to; word processing, database management, spreadsheets, and others.
The Moraine Valley Foundation was founded in 1982 to provide scholarships and emergency assistance to Moraine Valley Community College students, fund innovative programs at the college and offer financial support to its Fine and Performing Arts Center. As a 501(c)3 entity, the Foundation partners with corporate and individual donors and has awarded over $1 million to support the college’s mission. In the last fiscal year, over $300,000 in scholarship funds were awarded to students pursuing a better life through higher education.
